In the state of Assam in India, wildlife experts are working hard to protect their diverse ecosystems, and thanks in large part to them, one of their most famous species, the one-horned rhinoceros, has bounced back from near-extinction. They are still very vulnerable to well-armed, highly-organized gangs of poachers seeking to kill them for their horns, which is highly sought after as a traditional Chinese medicine.
