It is widely known that the US government's Wildlife Services departments kills wild animals in their natural habitat that show a threat to the profits of wealthy cattle ranchers. Since the 1970's, they have used deadly hidden cyanide traps that have killed hundreds of thousands of foxes and coyotes and have also killed or injured more than 10,000 "non target" animals including eagles, bears, pet dogs and even humans. They have been banned in several states and most recently nationally in 2023. In 2026, Trump's EPA opened a comment period to allow the cruel traps and, despite 99.9% of the comments opposing the reauthorization, Wildlife Services has been given the green light to start using them again. They are still illegal in several states, but the Trump administration is insisting that they can still horrendously kill at will in Federal lands within those states. So get ready for a lot more dead animals including family pets and hopefully not too any children.
