Some people occasionally enjoy eating mushrooms of the psychotropic variety (if you are among them, please do so wisely and safely), but most of the mushrooms that most of us eat most of the time don't have the power to wildly distort our inner reality. What all of the mushrooms most of of us eat DO have is the power to reduce our cancer risk, reduce inflammation, lower our cholesterol and improve the health of our gut biome. Plus they provide a delightful umami flavoring and a fun chewy texture to the dishes that use them. And that's magic enough for me!
