Ridglan Farms is an animal breeding and research facility in Blue Mound, Wisconsin, where about 2,000 young beagles suffer, having been bred to be subjected to cruel medical experiments at the facility or to be sold to other laboratories for their own cruel experiments.
These poor dogs are not alone, though. In March 2026, hundreds of compassionate and dedicated animal rights activists from Direct Action Everywhere descended on the facility where they risked tear gas, rubber bullets and arrest to rescue 22 of the beagles who have since found happy forever homes.
In April, the activists arrived again, 1000 strong this time, but were met by a sizable armed force of police in full riot gear who tear gassed and fired rubber bullets at them. The facility was also surrounded by an illegal hastily-dug moat filled with animal manure. Unfortunately, no beagles were recused this time and 25 more arrests were made. For the next several days, the protests moved to the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison, including one where protestors displayed the wounds they received from the riot police.
Ridglan Farms is under investigation for hundreds of violations and has been forced to surrender its breeding license in order to avoid further prosecution. It is now facing additional charges for illegal manure storage.
