I continue to be obsessed with butterfly pea flowers, which turn liquid into a beautiful, rich blue hue. Some recommend adding lemon juice to make that color pop but I have not found the need to do that, it's colorful enough.
Butterfly pea flower has antioxidant benefits, which help support healthy cells, and is popular throughout Asia, often used in relaxation rituals. If you ever want to boost your smoothie game, too, it's a great choice.
This smoothie is gently sweet and full of berry flavor. Adding oats gives it a little more heft and is a nice fiber boost. Plus, it makes it taste a little like a blueberry muffin. Just five ingredients! 💙💜🫐
2 cups butterfly pea flower tea, cool (about 1 teaspoon per cup of hot water) 1 banana*, sliced 1 cup frozen blueberries 2 tablespoons rolled or quick oats 1 - 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup or 1 - 2 medjool dates, pits and stems removed 4 - 5 ice cubes
Add everything to your blender and blend until smooth.
*I always recommend peeling and freezing your bananas for smoothies. It adds a creamy, richer texture. 🍌🍌🍌
