After years of a hyperbolic and wide-ranging disinformation campaign by the militantly anti-vegan Weston A. Price Foundation, many people ended up believing that soy products are unhealthy, particularly for children. Nothing could be further from the truth. Soy products are packed with nutrition, and the isoflavones in soy have been shown to improve cognitive function throughout our lives and may even ward off dementia.
Now a new study has shown that children who include soy in their diets are more alert in school and they process information more quickly and efficiently than their low-soy classmates.
It can be particularly beneficial for children to incorporate soy products into their diet. The study's author suggests snacks like roasted edamame, soynuts, or soymilk, and meals includingtofu, tempeh or soy-based nuggets are good ways to increase soy intake.
