Love alliums and salt together for adding depth and flavor to a dish? This is a step beyond the run-of-the-mill onion salt and it gives you a nice option for any chive blossoms you have that are in need of use. (Chive blossom vinegar is also beautiful and tasty!) This is more of an idea than a recipe but we’re going to call it a recipe, too, because it’s so simple to make but there are some instructions.
1 cup coarse sea salt or kosher salt ½ cup chive blossoms, washed and dried overnight on a tea towel 1 - 2 teaspoons onion powder
Mix the ½ cup of the salt and dried chive blossoms in a food processor or blender until integrated. Add the rest of the salt and onion powder and pulse together. Spread on a cookie sheet or rectangular pan and air dry overnight or for a few days, stirring occasionally. Package in air tight containers and use for seasoning.
