When we (Marla and John) first became animal rights activists back in 1995, the fur industry was one of our group's major targets. We organized dozens of anti-fur protests including several Fur Free Friday marches. At the time, it seemed that the industry was so powerful that the odds of shutting it down was nearly impossible. But we have kept fighting, and over the years, most major clothing designers, most fashion shows and most high end retailers have shunned fur one by one, and far fewer people are flaunting fur coats. This is all thanks to the challenging and difficult work of many thousands of dedicated activists, and it gives us great hope for all of the other campaigns we have collectively launched against all of the other industries that make their wealth from the suffering of innocent animals. We'll all keep fighting as long as it takes.
