Avian flu has killed hundreds of millions of chicken and other birds as well as tens of thousands of wild animals. There have also been several instances of avian flu crossing into the human population. The Moderna corporation was on a path to developing an effective vaccine, but against the advice of leading virologists, Robert F Kennedy Jr says he doesn't believe in vaccines and he withheld all the funding, leaving the public woefully unprepared if an epidemic hits.
