It’s been a really absurdly hot and muggy few days in Chicagoland and yesterday, I found myself seeking a tasty pick-me-up that would be fruity and icy but not loaded with sugar. (Think Italian ice but less sweet.) That’s when I started thinking about what I had at home to accomplish that end: Lemons, agave, frozen grapes, ice and voila! The lemons and agave (or maple syrup) can make you a basic lemonade, add the frozen grapes and ice and you have a perfect, quick, thrifty and delicious treat on an insufferably hot day. So easy! This recipe is also very modifiable, but this was what I had on hand. You do not need a high-speed blender for making this but if you do have one, it will be quicker work with more uniform ice.
½ cup fresh lemon juice, no seeds 2 tablespoons agave or maple syrup 1½ cups frozen grapes (I recommend red ones for color) 1 cup ice
Place the ingredients in this order in your blender and blend until the large ice chunks have been broken up into very small pieces. Serve and enjoy immediately!
