The biggest (mostly bogus) complaint people on the right have about people receiving supplement income to feed their children is that the recipients are blowing the money on candy and unhealthy junk food. So when the Double Up Food Bucks programs offered SNAP recipients to buy double the fresh fruits and vegetables for the same money, one would think these legislators would consider this to be a good solution. But even though the program only costs $2 million to feed all the poor children in the state – a blip in the state's budget, it was deleted from the budget. But apparently poor people don't deserve to eat – especially when the wealthy really need their tax breaks.
