It's almost impossible to imagine the torture that the animals people eat face almost every waking moment of their lives, and even harder to fathom all of the sadistic torture devices like farrowing crates, veal crates and battery cages dreamed up by those who see billions of creatures as worthless commodities to be exploited for maximum profit. California's popular Proposition 12 was an attempt to help alleviate at least some suffering these poor souls endure, and it passed in 2018 by a wide margin (we promoted it a lot at the time). Ever since, the Animal Industry has tried everything they can think of, and with the help of all the Republican Senators and Congresspeople they generous support, they have come close several times, but haven't yet succeeded yet. Now there is a new attempt called the Food Security & Farm Protection Act (very sick choice for a name) and just this week, a lawsuit from the Trump administration that is trying to force California to repeal all of its animal welfare laws because they are cutting into these industries' massive profits.
