SWEET, SAVORY AND SMASHING PUMPKIN RECIPES

We have gathered all the pumpkin-centric recipes we’ve created since we started creating and sharing recipes on VeganStreet.com 2.0 in 2013 and thought some might just inspire you to get into the spirit of the season and get on board with October’s favorite gourd. Sweet, savory and even tangy, we’ve got all the pumpkin bases covered. (They’re orange so they’re easy to spot.)

We focus on accessible, thrifty, creative and always delicious vegan recipes so you are certain to find something that piques your interest.

Don’t want to stop with this collection? I don't blame you! We’ve got tons of other vegan recipes in our very affordable e-cookbooks: our big celebration collection, Fun, Festive and Fabulous, Vegan Holidays for Everyone; our spooky-fun zine, Humane Halloween; and our latest creation, The Vegan at Trader Joe’s Cookbook.

If you like what we’re doing, which is creating free content each and every week to try to shift the world toward compassionate living, please consider joining our Patreon community, starting at just one dollar a week. Any amount really helps us to do this work.

Happy October, Pumpkin!

SAVORY

Because umami lovers know what’s up.
Picture
A luscious, creamy soup that celebrates the season’s most iconic gourd and is worthy of any table.

This creamy, luscious sauce is gently sweet, a little cheesy and thick, an unusual but perfect pasta sauce reminiscent of alfredo.

More spicy and savory than sweet, this creamy hummus is a great addition in the fall and a welcome chance to switch up your chickpea paté game.
Distinctly savory with a little bit of a naturally sweet note from the pumpkin, this main dish is creamy, rich and decadent.

Put together the comfort of tamales with the earthy flavors of autumn produce, and you have a warming, cozy dish that is just impressive enough to serve guests without all the labor of tamales. Pumpkin adds great, fat-free, beta-carotene rich moisture to the masa dough crust.

TANGY

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that tang
Picture
This spread works great on bagels, tortilla roll-ups or even spread on apples. Pumpkin-y and rich without being cloyingly sweet, this will make any autumn enthusiast swoon.

If you’re into pumpkin but have had it up to your eyeballs in pumpkin spice, or maybe you just want to add to your repertoire, this spread is the perfect way to enjoy October’s favorite gourd. It’s creamy, cheesy, luscious, a little zingy, subtly sweet, packed with umami, and, dare I say, sophisticated. It’s also waiting for you.

SWEET

This little pumpkin deserves a treat

What could possibly be tastier than a fresh warm chocolate chip muffin? Why a fresh warm pumpkin chocolate chip muffin, of course. It's the perfect sweet treat for a crisp autumn day.
Picture
Less expensive than going to a coffee shop, you can also customize this warm drink to your exact preference.
Picture
Creamy, gently sweet, delicious and perfectly appropriate smoothie for the season.
Picture
Our version of a DQ Blizzard, our shakes are full of vanilla ice cream and Halloween magic! Any chocolate vegan sandwich cookies would do, extra points for being Halloween-themed.
Picture
Simple, quick and inexpensive to make, this soft serve just needs a food processor or high-speed blender, a little time pulsing and scraping down the sides, and you will have a sugar-free but delicious, seasonal treat.
Picture
This pudding is delicious warm but I especially love it cold, giving it a chance for the flavors to meld. It is smooth, decadent and comforting without being too rich, the perfect dessert with a warm meal. Feel free to top with your favorite dairy-free whipped topping.

Chocolate! Rich! Seasonally appropriate! These truffles are easy to make but take a little while but they are worth every minute.
These treats use mild but rich cashew butter to lend a buttery flavor (though any nut butter will do) and a combination of ingredients to evoke a marshmallow-y chewiness and denseness, including puréed pumpkin as a nod to the season.

Smooth, rich and delicious, these bars are the perfect autumn treat and so easy to make.

Picture
Why magic? Because they are about as nutritious as a goody can be while still being a bonafide treat. Don’t be scared about the beans, trust me, these blondies are decadent, moist, perfect and, above all, magic.
Picture
Oil-free, we used that old standby of applesauce to stand in for fat, and the puréed pumpkin does that job nicely itself. The result is a moist, fudge-y brownie, my very favorite kind, with just a whisper of pumpkin. I hope you love these as much as we do.
Picture
Chewy, tender, aromatic and a little decadent, these are sure to be a hit at any fall party or in any lunch box.
Picture
It tastes like autumn! Flavorful and decadent, this is great for home or any holiday party.
Picture
Pumpkin, cream cheese, chocolate chips: a symphony of both mild,  rich and seasonal  flavors, these decadent brownies were even better than I imagined.
