In Iowa, it is now legal for meat-processing plants to recruit children as young as 14 years old to spend their days doing the dangerous and soul-crushing work of turning living animals into packages of meat. They can even work six-hour shifts on school days. Several other states allow slaughterhouses to hire young teenagers for this horrific work. If you eat meat, you may well be contributing to child exploitation.
