Like many places, including the State of California, Sweden has banned the use of battery confinement for egg-laying hens. But the way they did it is unique. There was edict from the government or a Proposition to be voted. Instead, after years of careful negotiation, all parties, including the egg industry, agreed to stop the process of confining hens in tiny cages. This way, the changes are very likely to be permanent, unlike California's Proposition 12, which has been under constant attack from the entire animal killing industrial complex and their powerful allies in the government.
