The 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) held in November 2025 produced the first ever Global Methane Status Report, which stated that pledges to reduce global methane emissions by 2030 have fallen woefully short of the promises made and far short of the amount needed to slow the growth of the climate crisis.
Methane is a supercharged greenhouse gas that is 80 times more potent and dangerous than carbon dioxide. One of the world's largest and most easily correctable sources of methane production is animal agriculture, particularly the waste products of beef and dairy production. We simply cannot solve the climate crisis without a wholesale shift away from animal consumption.
