The vegan movement has just picked up another gold star on its way to changing the world for the better. The City of West Hollywood, California has adopted a policy that all city-sponsored events have to be vegan by default, which means that all the foods and refreshments served at the event must be plant-based, unless animal-based foods are specifically requested in advance. This is part of a plan to help West Hollywood reduce its carbon footprint and protect against climate change.
Many municipalities and other governments around the world are beginning to understand animal agriculture's toxic role in the climate crisis and are taking steps toward thwarting it. We all need to persuade our own communities to do the same.
