The huge multi-layered and politically neutral civil apparatus that has been carefully built over hundreds of years to keep the country running smoothly and protect us all from our worst people's worst impulses is being brutally eviscerated to be replaced with who knows what.
There will no doubt be many ways where this idiocracy will hurt us, but one that concerns us the most here at Vegan Street is their deplorable action in protecting us from what may be the worst pandemic we have ever faced. Avian flu is just beginning to enter the human population after decades of intense factory farming that has contributed mightily to the spread of this virulent disease.
The scientists at the USDA, The Centers for Disease Control and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and being decimated and having the budgets slashed by those who want to send everyone's money to the billionaires. Further, the new head of the HHS is an antivax quack who, like his bosses, doesn't appear to want to protect Americans health.
Our leaders are not going to protect us unless we very loudly force them to do so. It's time to speak up. Our lives depend on it.
