A two-year study - the largest study ever - on the effects of "broiler" chickens who'd been genetically manipulated to reach their full-grown size by six weeks (a common industry practice for most of the chickens people eat) found that the birds had difficulty moving and suffered from sores, higher biochemical markers of muscle damage, and disproportionate heart and lung development and “wooden breast", which is the hardening of the chicken’s breast.
All this needless cruelty so people can eat their flesh?
