We picked up these cute, Halloween-themed silicone candy molds earlier in the season (okay, it was August) and finally got around to making some homemade chocolates. This is a REALLY easy recipe and you may also enjoy it because it’s got a lot less sugar than most chocolate you would buy. Feel free to add more maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter version, this was just what I did.
½ cup refined coconut oil or cocoa butter 2 - 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup or agave nectar ½ cup slavery-free unsweetened, slavery-free cocoa powder Dash of salt 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Melt the coconut oil or cocoa butter in a small pan over low heat. Once melted, add the salt, sweetener and cocoa powder. Stir over low temperature until everything is well mixed. Add the vanilla extract.
Using a small spoon, fill each of the mold cavities with chocolate. If there is enough room, you can also add a vegan mini-marshmallow after the bottom has been coated. Place flat in the refrigerator and chill until firm. Remove from the mold.
