It is now illegal to own wild animals in France, and there are so many restrictions that wild animals cannot be used in circuses, movies, petting zoos or for any entertainment purposes. At the same time, France has banned all fur farms from the country, increased the maximum penalties for animal abuse to five years in prison and an $85,000 fine and instituted a seven-day waiting period for the purchase of a pet, which will drastically reduce the number of dogs and cats abandoned by their people. Thank you to the people of France for making life better for so many of the animals who live there.
