One evening in 1984, I saw a documentary that contained a scene of workers hanging living chickens by their feet onto conveyor belts that looked a lot like the ones in this photo. I never knowingly ate meat again after seeing that. Literally, eight billion chickens meet this fate each year in the US alone and tens of billions more around the world die this pitiless mechanical death each year.
