This is one of the most terrifying stories I've read in a long time. We have always thought of the mighty Amazon rainforest as the "lungs of the Earth" and one of the few places we could count on that would serve as some kind of balance to the massive amounts of greenhouse gases pumped into our atmosphere each day. But in recent years, it has been ravaged by profiteers so thoroughly that it's now causing more climate change than it's protecting us from. It is time that everyone takes the issue of climate change very seriously, or soon we will literally wipe out the human race.
