In the past five years or so, investors have pumped $478 Billion into the meat and dairy industries. At the same time, a new study shows that the top 20 meat and dairy farms emit more climate change inducing greenhouse gases than Germany, France or the UK. In fact, these same industries are among the top contributors to the destruction of rainforests and other natural habits, as well as species extinction, air and water pollution, soil erosion and other preventable environment tragedies. If that $478 Billion were instead invested in creating healthy, sustainable and compassionate food systems, the world would be such a better place.
