The world's 55 billion farmed animals take up far more land and consume far more grain than they give back with their flesh. If all the animal farms suddenly went away, there would be so much more space to grow all the food the world could ever need, plus we'd have far more natural areas, healthier soil, more abundant water and cleaner air – and way fewer greenhouse gases would be released into the atmosphere. Every step toward eating more plants and fewer animals is a step in the right direction.
