Lolita the famous orca was deprived of family and spent her entire life in a tiny aquatic cage where she was forced to perform humiliating "tricks" to bring lots of money to her exploiters. But her sad life was immortalized in a popular documentary that mobilized thousands of compassionate people to take action against the exploitative aquatic animal abuse industry and the terrible plight of performing animals everywhere. Though she died before ever experiencing her long-promised release into a sanctuary, many other present and future animals will be spared from captivity and forced performance. It is very sad that she was never allowed granted the freedom that she brought to others.
