One doesn't normally think of Los Angeles as a hotbed of rodeo activity, but this is still important news. Rodeos require massive animal abuse. A steer does not normally energetically jump around. But to put on a good show, a cowboy will leap on the steer's back. A tight rope will be wrapped around the steer's belly causing immense pain. A sudden jolt to the genitals with the equivalent of a stun gun will set him in a panic, and repeated stabbing from the cowboy's spurs will keep him thrashing around. Rodeos should be banned everywhere in the world, but at least by banning them in LA, they are drawing attention to the cruelty.
