According to Faunalytics, 66 billion chickens are killed for food worldwide each year.
A standard adult chicken is about 27" high, so I think it's safe to say that each chicken would have a volume of about one cubic foot. So 66 billion chickens would be 66 billion cubic feet, which equals 0.46 cubic miles. A chicken that size would easily be more than a mile high and a half a mile wide.
Actually, this illustration drastically underestimates the size of the chicken. The towers on the Golden Gate Bridge are 746' tall, which is about 1/7th of a mile, so this chicken should be more than twice as tall as it is in this picture. I couldn't find a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge that was far enough away to fit a chicken this size behind it. As it is, the bird looks pretty darned big.
Suffice it to say, each year, the number of chickens who die on this planet is 8 3/4 times the number of the Earth's human inhabitants. Almost all of these chickens live tortuous lives and die horrible deaths. I can't see why anyone thinks this would be okay.
