Not that we need any more depressing news right now, but global scientists from the U.K.'s Royal Botanic Gardens warned Tuesday that 45% of known flowering plant species could be at risk of extinction. This can be blamed on the rapid loss of biodiversity caused by massive habitat and ecosystem destruction as well as the effects of climate change.
The silver lining is that every one of us can help solve this simply by reducing or removing animal products from our diets. Animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate change and is THE leading cause of habitat destruction.
