One of the biggest environmental threats in the US involves the rampant overuse and rapid depletion of the Colorado River which supplies water for more than 40 million people in eight states. Most of the news stories fail to mention that 70% of the the Colorado River's water is used to grow and irrigate crops of corn, soybeans and alfalfa in the arid lands to feed cattle. Is that really the best use of this water?
