Americans eat a lot of meat. None of it is necessary, and all of it contributes a lot to climate change, biodiversity loss, water shortages and a whole host of other environmental maladies – not to mention cardiovascular and many other health maladies and, of course, the imprisonment and death of billions of innocent creatures. Many people from around the world are waking up to the horrible costs and dangers of a meat-centered diet, but the issue needs to be given a lot more attention.
